1) Workshop/Class enrolments are co-ordinated by the Workshop Registrar only and should not be directed through other committee members. Email: admin@embroiderersguildwa.org.au.
2) The enrolment procedure is as follows:
a. Send a completed enrolment form with a non-refundable $20 deposit (by cheque, money order or credit card details, no cash please), and a business sized stamped self-addressed envelope to:

b. Balance of payment is required 4 weeks prior to class commencement. No reminders will be sent. Upon full payment, a receipt and requirements list will be sent to you. When sending balance of payment, please enclose a note with your name, the workshop and the amount.
c. Alternatively, full payment may be made with initial enrolment.
If unable to participate in the class, please contact the Workshop Registrar.
Kit fees (where applicable) need to be paid in cash on the first day to the hostess/tutor

Natural Dyeing */**/*** Date: Saturday February 2 2008 Place: Guild House Time: 9.30am - 3.00pm Cost: $60 (Guild Members) $125 (non-Member) Tutor: Jennie Abbott Come and explore the realm of natural, chemical free dyes to produce glorious, light and colourful fabrics reminiscent of our Australian bush. Boil or steep banksia nuts, gumleaves, bark and sticks to create amazing colour. Use traditional Japanese Shibori techniques to fold and wrap fabrics before the dye process to further enhance the finished piece. Dyes are suitable for all silk, wool and cotton but not polyester, poly cotton or any manmade fabrics. Due to popular demand this is a repeat of theWorkshop held in October 2007. |
Brilliant Colour on Synthetic Fabric */**/*** Date: Wednesday 27 February 2008 Place: Guild House Time: 9.30am - 3.00pm Cost: $50 (Guild Members) $115 (non-M) Tutor: Linda Stokes Learn how to create fabulous, unique fabrics easily with heat transfer dyes and crayons. |
Elizabethan Module 2 **/*** Date: Wed 5 & Thurs 6 March 2008 Place: Guild House Time: 9.00 – 3.30 Cost: $100 (Guild Members) $165 (non-M) Tutor: Maree Talbot This design is typical of the Elizabethan period featuring a bird stitched in Needlelace under a fruiting tree of grapes and lilies surrounded by various insects and scrolls of gold. This is a great project for those ladies with previous experience in Needlelace wishing to expand their stitching skills. You will learn to extend your knowledge of Detached Buttonhole allowing you to achieve unique three dimensional effects without the use of wires. The piece for this class can be framed or mounted on the lid of a box OR the piece can be put towards an Embroidered Elizabethan Casket which is to be done over a two to three year period. This piece has been designed to be used for one of the doors on the front of the Casket. Completion of Module 1 is essential. This workshop is a repeat of Module 2 held in 2007. |
Elizabethan Module 3 **/*** Date: Wed. 26 & Thurs. 27 March 2008 Place: Guild House This design is typical of the Elizabethan period featuring coiling stems worked in gold, enclosing flowers, insects and other small creatures stitched in silk on a linen background. This is a great project for those ladies with previous experience in Needlelace wishing to expand their stitching skills. You will learn to extend your knowledge of Detached Buttonhole allowing you to achieve unique three dimensional effects without the use of wires. This piece can be framed, mounted on the lid of a box or used for one of the sides of an Elizabethan Casket which is to be done over a two or three year period. Pulled Fabric **/*** Date: Wed 30 April & Wed 7 May 2008 Place: Guild House Time: 9.30am – 3.00pm Cost: $100 (Guild Members) $165 (non-M) Tutor: Faye Philip In this workshop you will learn and apply a small selection of pulled fabric techniques to complete two small projects. Suitable edgings and appropriate construction methods to finish the articles will also be covered. |
Foundations of Embroidery Module 1 */** Date: Sun. 25 May, 8, 15, 22 & 29 June & 6 July Place: Guild House Time: 9.30am – 12.30pm Cost: $100 (Guild Members) $165 (non-M) Tutor: TBA This workshop replaces the ‘Introduction to Embroidery’ offered previously. It is the first of a two part series that will introduce you to the basic stitches and allow you to extend your knowledge of these. The second part (to be held in Second Semester) will include construction techniques and box making. This is an ideal workshop for people new to embroidery, those planning to become Guild Teachers, and experienced embroiderers who wish to refresh their skills. |
Elizabethan Module 4 **/*** Date: Saturday 3 & Sunday 4 May 2008 Place: Guild House This Elizabethan design features a hare stitched in Needlelace under a fruiting tree of strawberries and lily surrounded by various insects, small creatures and scrolls of gold worked in silks on a linen background. This project allows the ladies to build on the techniques and skills they have learnt in the previous Elizabethan workshops and introduces them to the skills required to stitch small animals. The piece for this class can be framed or mounted on the lid of a box OR the piece can be put towards an embroidered Elizabethan casket which is to be done over a two to three year period. This piece has been designed to be used for one of the doors on the front of the casket. |
Sculptured Wire and Stitch Machine Embroidery **/*** Date: Saturday 31 May 2008 Place: Guild House Time: 9.30am - 3.00pm Cost: $50 (Guild Members) $115 (non-M) Tutor: Margaret Perkins This workshop will introduce the concept of using different gauge wires to create three dimensional pieces such as miniature three panel screens. The screens can then be made into triangular candle holders if preferred. |
Surprise Day */**/*** Date: Saturday June 7 2008 Place: Guild House Time: 9.30am – 3.00pm Cost: $15 (Guild Members) $25 (non-M) Tutor: TBA Join your fellow embroiderers to complete a surprise project. |
Introduction to Goldwork */**/*** Date: Saturday 21 June 2008 Place: Guild House Time: 9.30am - 3.00pm Cost: $50 (Guild Members) $115 (non- M) Tutor: Maree Talbot This one day class is designed to introduce ladies to Goldwork and cover the skills required to set up equipment and prepare a piece to work. It will also introduce you to the large range of metal threads that are available to work a project. The class will cover stitch techniques, simple padding with felt, basic couching using pearl purls and Japanese threads while working a small sample. |

Responsibilities of Workshop Participants: • Classes need to start on time. Please read your class list carefully re times and dates. • Have all the special requirements for your class. • Some classes require a kit to be purchased on the day – this will be advised on your requirements list. Have your kit fee ready – correct change is appreciated. • Remember the copyright laws. To reproduce the Tutor’s notes or work requires the permission of the Tutor. All original work is the intellectual property of the Tutor. • If a sewing machine is required please ensure it is in good working order. Bring extra needles, all the attachments, the machine manual and a good working knowledge of the machine. • Please bring your lunch, as there are few shops close by. Tea and coffee are provided. • Parking is limited at Guild House. Parking is available behind the bottle shop on Canning Highway near North Lake Road. • Mobile phones are to be switched off during lesson times. |
