Blackwork Shoe Start Stitching Kit

This practical shoe bag is decorated with a hand stitched panel using the technique of Blackwork. It is a simple design and suitable for beginner embroiderers.
Blackwork embroidery was preceded by Mamluk Egyptian running stitch embroideries and Indian Kasuti. This type of embroidery used colour, which brings us to modern times when there are many designs today encouraging the use of colour.
Originally, European Blackwork was known from before 1500 and was commonly stitched with black silk thread on white fabric when it was used to decorate garments in the time of Henry Vlll.
This design uses simple straight stitches to form four different patterns.
The kit comes complete with the shoe outline printed onto the fabric, needles and thread to complete the project as well as a quality hoop and scissors and fully illustrated instructions. All complete in a sturdy box keeping everything needed at hand.
