Thinking about your stitching journey and where you might like it to lead you? Have you considered partaking of some classes to improve and deepen your understanding of embroidery and some of the possibilities available?
Participating in the Foundations classes can offer you some building blocks with which to take your understanding and techniques further along that journey.
The Embroiderers Guild is very excited to offer in 2024 the newly formatted Foundations Introduction to Embroidery classes.
Classes will be held at Curnow Knuckey in Kingsley over 10 lessons, taking place on a series of Sundays 9.30 -12.30 with the teachers Molly Clark and Rita Petters.
This presents a terrific investment in your art/pastime as well as providing an option to complete a file of techniques and samples for reference and future growth.
The classes will run fortnightly on two Sunday mornings a month from 9.30am to 12.30pm at Curnow Knuckey. Masonic Village, Kingsley, starting in February 2024.
Foundations of Embroidery topics include:
Choices of fabric, their availability and type
Needle selection for best results
Thread choices, types and application
Stitches and their combinations
Folio Construction and presentation.
(Folio only required for students wishing to present their work for assessment as part of the certificate course).
* This module is the basic core unit for the Guild's Personal Development Program. (https://www.embroiderersguildwa.org.au/pd-programme) It is open to all, but It is a required component for gaining a Certificate of Competence in Hand Embroidery. Technique specialisation components will also be offered by the Guild as part of the ongoing education program.

Some materials will be provided, other supplies will be available at a small cost
What to bring:
Needles: Crewel, Tapestry, Chenille and Straw, a mixed size pack of each.
Hoops: 1 x 4 inch and 1 x 6 inch
Threads: 2 x Perle 8 and 2 x Perle 5, assorted colours, not white or cream
6 x Stranded cotton, colours of your choice which work together
Reel of machine thread for tacking
Note book
Fine mechanical pencil
Fine blue washout marker
Small sharp scissors
Magnification and light if required
Stitch dictionary if you have one
