We are excited that Ann-Marie Anderson-Mayes of ‘Beautiful Stitches’ has agreed to present this online class for us.
This is the first online course that our guild has presented, giving our members and others an opportunity to learn from her.

The classes will be delivered professionally by her with instruction videos and clear notes with diagrams.

We would encourage your participation to enjoy stitching this very colourful canvas work project at your own pace.

Course Description by Ann-Marie

This design features a wonderful range of traditional and modern canvaswork stitches, including one aptly named the “English Stitch”. The design features a front and back panel that take the same range of stitches to create two completely different layouts. My version has been used to create a large needlecase, but you could just as easily use the two panels to decorate a bag, journal cover, box top, or simply framed to bring a little bit of happy colour into your world.

This class will be offered as an online workshop – four sessions delivered once a week (each session is equivalent to a half-day workshop). Students will be taught the project using a combination of written notes and instruction videos. This will include demonstrations of all the stitches required to complete the design as well as clear instructions on how to construct the needlecase.

For students who prefer not to work so fine, the design can be adapted to 18-count canvas, but this will make the panels too large for a needlecase. However, they will still work beautifully for the items mentioned above.

The first three lessons will focus on teaching the embroidery with the fourth focussing on construction of the needlecase. The students will be provided with PDF files of the written instructions, stitch charts, stitch cards and access to good quality, detailed instruction videos.
