Guest Talk by Di Kirchner

"My RSN Journey and Working on the Coronation Anointing Screen"

Di Kirchner is taking two workshops for the Guild on the 29th and 30th June and the 1st and 2nd of July.  She has very kindly offered to do a talk for the Guild on the evening of Friday 30 June.

Di is a very talented Australian embroiderer and embroidery designer. Early in her career she became known for her smocking designs which were featured in the former Australian Smocking and Embroidery magazine. Over more recent years she has successfully ventured into surface embroidery, shadow work and ribbon work. Today she is probably best know for her glorious crewel work designs, hardanger pieces and counted embroidery. Her crewel work pieces are rich in colour and while Di takes inspiration from traditional embroideries, she pushes the boundaries and the resultant designs are truly modern. Her recent gold work pieces have beautiful, strong shapes with gentle curves. Many of her designs have been featured in Inspirations Magazine, the Inspirations publication, "Pincushions", and several of the "A Passion for Needlework" series.

Di recently worked on the embroidery of the Anointing Screen for the Coronation of King Charles. She will talk about her Royal School of Needlework Journey and how she became a part of the team working on the Anointing Screen.

Following Di's presentation, a light supper will be served.
