One Stitch Wander

Member Cost $100.00 for 5 Classes.

The core stitches of Back stitch, Chain stitch, Stem stitch are the comfort zones for embroidery. Stitched often and with ease.
Take a step outside this comfort zone and explore some uncommon stitches. Stitched in repeat on a hanging bauble, the stitches cease to be uncommon.
Traditional or contemporary Embroiderers can add depth, dimension and movement to their work by making the uncommon common.

Stitches to be explored, but not limited to, are:

Guilloche, Breton, Turkey Rug Knot, Palestrina Knot, Hungarian Braided Chain, Portuguese Knotted Stem, Rosetta Chain stitch - to name a few.

Learn how to make and attach a twisted cord and hanging loop.

Addition of beads, sequins or decorative charms. Students will be encouraged to develop other finishing. For example, make a thread tassel, a beaded tassel and finishing other than tassels.

Less common threads and thread brands will be tried - Stef Francis, the Painters Collection, Coton a Broder - and more.

A series of five, two hour, evening workshops, on a fortnightly basis, will explore these stitches in a design to be made into a hanging bauble, or do your own thing on a doodle cloth or memory cloth.
