Chains of Diamonds
Foundations of Embroidery Part Two continues your journey in embroidery.
Learn important finishing techniques that will turn your embroideries into very practical and decorative items.
As well as learning valuable skills in these workshops, you will add some useful items to your embroidery workbox.
At the conclusion of this course you will make some very handy essentials for carrying and protecting your projects, storing precious needles, as well as a lovely book cover for your notebook.
In the process of making these small pieces, you will learn valuable techniques that can be applied to many of your finished embroidered pieces.
The first item is a craft bag with a clear insert to store your work in a safe and protected way. You will learn how to insert a zip, and use a straight binding to finish the edges. This method can also be used for finishing cushion covers.
Storing the needles we use is important to keep them safe and handy for use. A small needle case will be made to match the bag.
This comes with pockets to store the needle packets, and is closed with a loop and bead. You will learn how to make a simple decorated hem. This can be applied to many items that need to be hemmed with mitred corners. Learn an easy way to do this!
A small pin cushion is the next item. This is closed with an edging stitch and, like the other items, is embellished with the Bargello theme of 'Chains of Diamonds'.
A Book Cover will also be constructed and decorated with the same design. This cover will fit an A5 book and includes a handy inside pocket for the storage of your pen/pencil.
Come and join Rita as she shares her knowledge and experience with you.
Taking time to attend these classes will benefit you immensely. As well as learning the basic methods of construction, between classes, you will have time to finish and decorate your pieces with a lovely design, stitched on a linen fabric.
