Thinking about your stitching journey and where you might like it to lead you?

Participating in the Foundations classes can offer you some building blocks with which to take your understanding and techniques further along that journey.

This course was very well received in 2024 and Toni, a recent student, wrote:

"The Foundations of Embroidery course was both informative and fun. The tutors, Molly and Rita, were both very knowledgeable and took the time to ensure that all participants received sufficient guidance. There was a good mix of demonstrations and hands-on embroidery and in a friendly environment. I have done a lot of embroidery over the years, but I learnt a lot on this course. This included a lot more stitches as well as the best way to construct stitches to give the best outcome (with less stress), the various tools such as frames and needles, types of embroidery threads and fabrics that can be used, as well as some design tips. All this information, as well as the embroidery samples, went into a file that has proved a useful reference tool. The course has given me the core knowledge and “language” of embroidery, which has enabled me to use books and websites to continue building on my embroidery knowledge and skills".

The Embroiderers Guild is very excited to present this course again in 2025, the newly designed and updated  'Foundations, Introduction to Embroidery.'

The results of your learning could be collated into a fabric book format for future reference.

Small items will be produced, including a magnetic name badge, a small needle case or scissor fob as well as the potential to stitch a personal design to embellish the cover.
