Elizabethan Knot Garden

Knotgarden5.jpeg

Level: Beginners to advanced.

Workshop Description:

The inspiration for this design has come from my love of the intricate patterns and plants of the Elizabethan gardens, which were often mirrored in the embroidery of the 16th century. Most of these amazing ornate gardens are no longer in existence but have been accurately depicted in embroideries.

This project allows us to recreate a typical knot garden using techniques and stitches from the Elizabethan period.  The design has been stitched in DMC Coton a Broder 25 and YLI gold metallic on 55 count Kingston linen with the use of a Hedebo ring stick.

This piece can be framed or made into a box.

Design size:  12cm x 12cm

Kit Cost:  $40.00

Kit Contains:

Kit contains detailed instructions with colour photo, linen printed with design overlocked and backing, DMC Coton a Broder 25 and DMC threads in your choice of colours, beads and needles to suit the project.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hedebo ring stick (I will have some available for those ladies who need one for a cost of $25)
  • 6 inch hoop
  • Scissors
  • Magnification or light.

Elizabethan Rose Panel

Projects2008 024.jpeg

Level:  Beginners to advanced.

Workshop Description:

The design for the rose panel has been inspired by a bible cover that belonged to Elizabeth 1.  The panel has been stitched using a combination of DMC Coton a broder 25, DMC stranded, metallic threads, pearls and beads.  This class teaches you the techniques required to stitch three dimensional shapes using variations of detached buttonhole with the aid of a hedebo ring stick.

This embroidery is suitable to be framed, used for the lid of a box or book cover.

Design size: 14cm x 10cm
