Presentation by Ross Ellis - Wandering Through Textiles

Join Ross Ellis (the only male member of the WA Quilters Association and now also the only male member of the Embroiderers' Guild!) as he shares his thoughts while "wandering through textiles". Ross will talk about his travels or experiments over the past 20 years in a range of textile projects. He will present many examples of his work, hoping to inspire or encourage you to pick up something new. The presentation will be followed by morning tea and a chance to chat with Ross and like-minded embroidery and textile lovers. 

About Ross Ellis:

Ross is the only male member of the WA Quilters Association and is accustomed to being surrounded by a sea of women.  He is also now the only male member of the Embroiderers’ Guild!!  A claim to fame??

He has quilted for more than 20 years, but says he has only ever met a handful of other male quilters. “I honestly think most men are just scared of all the ladies. Perhaps they consider it a ‘lady’s job’."

“But a lot of men are successful fashion designers, so it really shouldn’t be seen as an effeminate pastime.”

"The number of men is slowly increasing and maybe one day there won’t be such a gender imbalance.’’
