This small square panel features the leaves, blossoms and fruits of the woody vine, Virginia Creeper, which frame a central embroidered initial – worked in raised stem stitch and outlined with gold (a choice of 26 letters will be offered).
Hovering over the Initial is a Dragonfly, with gauzy raised wings and a detached abdomen worked in iridescent bugle beads. This design may be worked with both the Initial and the Dragonfly, or with only the Initial or the Dragonfly – the choice is yours.
Worked on cream silk dupion, using traditional stumpwork and surface embroidery techniques, and a variety of threads and beads, this design showcases the Virginia Creeper in its various stages of development: from the small green beaded buds in the upper left corner; progressing, clockwise, to the pinkish blossoms with detached narrow boat-shaped petals; to the wrapped beaded berries - maturing from light green to dark reddish-purple - in the lower corners.
The finished embroidery may be framed or mounted into the lid of a box.
This class is suitable those with some previous embroidery experience
This beautiful piece is designed by Jane as an introduction to 3D elements and incorporating a special personal touch of an initial framed with a touch of gold.
