This design has been created with simple straight stitches and is similar to cross stitch but has the advantage of having the freedom to create many lovely designs.
Hapsburg lace (often referred to as Hapsburg Lace Embroidery) originated in the 16th century within the Austrian Hapsburg court. It is a counted embroidery technique used to create patterns on fine fabrics like linen and cotton using silk threads.
Our small sample piece is displayed in a clear coaster that can be used by you each day when you take a break for a refreshing drink!
These workshops are mainly for beginning stitchers, but also have the challenge of inspiring different designs to make each piece individual.
The basic stitches are taught by experienced embroiderers as well as simple construction techniques to complete a practical and useful item.
Come and join this Start Stitching workshop and enjoy the benefits and pleasure that comes from creating your own piece of embroidery.
