Threads of Identity

This talk is for Textile Creatives

As the world changes around us, it is important to remember the traditions, skills and cultural knowledge that have shaped our lives and communities across generations.

For World Embroidery Week 2026, the Embroiderers Guild of Western Australia invites textile creatives on a remarkable journey through some of the embroidered traditions of the world. This special exhibition explores how communities across cultures have used textiles to express identity, celebrate significant life events, and create a sense of belonging.  Specific objects within the exhibition will be focused upon in this one-hour talk.

Please feel free to arrive earlier to view the exhibition.
