Hi! I’m Lindsay (aka Lindsay Stitches). I completed year-long embroidery journal projects in 2020, 2022 and 2025, where I stitched a memory (or two, or three!) to represent each and every day of my life during those years.
It's such a delight to look back at my journals and reminisce not only about the memories that I've stitched, but the memories that I created WHILST stitching them! I hope you’ll join me in this workshop so we can get you started on your own embroidery journal, and create some memories together!
Embroidery Journaling is the art of stitching a daily icon or word to represent notable moments of your life. The finished piece is a thoughtful and tactile memento to look back on and share with friends and family for years to come. The ritual of embroidering daily memories is not only a great way to hone your stitching skills, but also a wonderful exercise in noticing and remembering the little things in life!
If a year-long embroidery journal or daily practice feels like too much, there are so many ways to create a mini version for yourself or as a beautiful gift for a loved one!
Some ideas for smaller, more manageable embroidery journals:
● Honour a friendship by stitching characteristics and shared memories
● Remember a favourite trip by stitching the highlights (and the holiday dramas!)
● Ease into embroidery journaling by stitching ten top memories each month
In this workshop, Lindsay will share insights into:
● Embroidery journal styles
● Planning and setting up your embroidery journal
● Deciding what to stitch
● Icon sizing and placement
● Maintaining motivation throughout a long-term project
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have started your own embroidery journal project, and have the knowledge and skills to see it through to the end!
