Stitched and Bound - entries for 2026/27 are open now. 2024/25 exhibition now visiting galleries in northern and southern WA until September 2025 08th March 2025
stitched and bound 2026/27 will open at Midland Junction Arts Centre (MJAC), Perth on 1 May 2026 and close on 28 June 2026 and will hopefully tour galleries in country WA. Conditions of Entry for the exhibition are now available on the website to view and download. Entries open until 1 December 2025. stitched and bound is a biennial exhibition showcasing the innovative range of current work being produced by Western Australian artists who challenge the usual concept of the ‘quilt’ medium. .

A new Design group is now meeting fortnightly on Thursday mornings to explore design processes to achieve original designs for textiles. Each session consists of the tiniest bit of essential theory of the elements and principles of design and then an activity of a different design method.

A stunning new acquisition for the Guild’s Historical Textile Collection. From the 1880s-1890s a pale green silk satin cape with embroidered panels at front, collar and back, of goldwork including purls and sequins. Lined with red and pink. The embroidery may have been produced in India to suit Western market. Beautiful!

The Collection Group’s new archival boxes have arrived! 05th September 2022
A recent grant from The Copland Foundation has enabled the Collection Group to purchase a large number of archival storage boxes. These boxes will allow fragile items to be stored safely with minimal handling, and embroidery tools are now placed safely in custom made boxes that can be easily accessed and viewed..
