Founders Challenge - the theme for 2025 is BAGS
27th August 2024
As announced at our Elegant High Tea, the theme for 2025 is ‘BAGS’.
With bags on our mind, we hope that the ideas are beginning to flow for your entry into Founder’s Challenge for 2025. The Guild’s Collection Group has bags at the ready, a supporting education plan is being developed, and we’ll soon be confirming times to bring the historic bags to groups. It is time to start thinking when this will be scheduled into your group’s program. Let Gail Hawes holmanhawes@hotmail.com or Lyn Wieck lynwieck@optusnet.com.au know which month would work for you.
President Jenny Quartermaine adds that there will be other opportunities to explore unique features, points of interest, design, interpretation, construction which will be promoted throughout the year. Develop your own inspired textile creation with help from all the Guild’s resources.
There are a few simple rules for you to follow:
• Techniques allowed are hand embroidery, machine embroidery, beading, or lace.
• Your work could take any form but must represent a bag – evening, day, casual, glamorous, purse - but finished work must fit in a 30cm cube with a stand for display if needed. (For 2025 Challenge only, the size of the cube has been expanded.)
• Work must have been completed in the last 12 months, be original and not from a workshop or kit.
Entries will be displayed at the Annual Lunch in July 2025 and will be voted on by the attendees for Best Entry and Best First Time Entry. Following the lunch, entries will be on display at Guild House for approximately one month. The prizes are Guild vouchers valued at $100 for Best Entry and $50 for Best First Time Entrant.
Exact details on timing, delivery, and entry forms will be in The Embroiderer closer to time. For now, put those thinking caps on and start stitching! For any queries, contact Jenny Quartermaine on 0400 682 078 or president@embroiderersguildwa.org.au
