Elizabethan Book Cover
Description:
Heavily embroidered book cover typical of bookbindings from the late 16th and early 17th centuries. These small lavishly embroidered bindings were used for volumes of Psalms, the bible or other religious subjects. The completed book measures 12cm x 7cm.The embroidery is stitched in gumnut yarn “stars” silk threads on 55 count Kingston linen. Students can choose to do the embroidery for a book cover which will be the front, back & spine or just the front panel which could be framed.
